Peace.

Well, maybe we can sing the tune of "Ding dong, the blogs are dead." (Nod to Annonymous commenter) Actually you could probably sing that about this blog too.... Not that it was ever alive to begin with. Anyways.

Just read through "SGM is Boring" on one of the sites. It's a bummer they wrote a blog with that title, (Actually I never read the whole thing, just the title) I was thinking the same thing about Anti SGM Sites. They bore me. Exceedingly. I haven't even taken a peek for months. I kept waiting for the "Bombshell" that was promised. I kept waiting to hear about how the corruption of SGM would come to fruition and we would crumble like a sand castle against the onslaught of the charges brought against us. **Yawn**

It was then it suddenly dawned on me. No one cares. The popularity of these sites were vastly over exaggerated. I honestly forgot that they even existed. My soul benefited from not reading the words written on those sites for these past months.

Hmmm, I cut something out of my diet and I became healthier. Sounds like a slam dunk to me.

For all you SGMers out there, keep doing your deal. Take it from one who's experienced the healing from chronic Anti SGM site reading. Reading words of gossip and slander take such a toll on one's soul. Don't even bother. Also don't anyone feel like they need to defend SGM, there wasn't ever anything substantial to defend against. God alone will defend us against those who bring accusation. There is no algebraic equation or metaphor, or logic, or reason that can be used to dissuade those who have viewed their time in SGM as "Dark Days."

Let them continue to rail and point out our flaws. It matters not. We have borne them well and shall be better for it. Besides some of them I believe to be genuine Christians, we may just end up standing next to them as we worship the Savior in heaven on day.

I'm checking out of the blog scene. My Sovereign Grace local church is where I'm spending my free time. To everyone who has commented, thanks for being good sports and steer clear of reading/writing gossip. You'll feel better/heal faster :)

  1. Strangely, I'm only just now seeing this post... I thought I came around to see if you'd written something a month or two ago...

Anyhow, thanks for your concluding thoughts here. Quite perceptive and accurate; precisely my own experience on this very subject. I've found there are enough things to work through in my life and with our church that looking to blogs clutters up the mind and distracts one's attention to the tasks God has called us to already. Alas that we couldn't talk to each other personally... But if you did, feel free to drop by my page.

  2. 2000+ people a day read the "refuge" blog. Only 23 people over the past month or so, since it first appeared, have signed the "SGM-is-rotten-to-the-core" declaration.

    This speaks volumes.

They falsely claim that hundreds, even thousands, have been spiritually abused. Yet only twenty-three sign this document (most are signing anonimously).

Folks who read the refuge blog can easily see what is really happening over at the 'fuge: false claims, twisting of the truth, and presenting everything that SGM does in the worst possible light. They pile on with exaggeration, unkindness, disrespect, and hatred.

They are abusing the 7000 members of SGM.

Yes, those 23 have got it all right and us 7000 are blind.

The foundation of the 'fuge consists of testimonies of pastoral abuse. Not one of those stories is proven. No witnesses. All are one-sided. Not all parties involved have been heard from. None of these testimonies have been researched and verified. They are all accepted at face value.

They play with more cards than a casino.

If they disagree with your comment, you are automatically a crank or a drive-by.

If you continue to express disagreement, you are part of some inner circle, and called a "supporter", not a member.

They pretend there is a canyon-like divide between pastors and the rest of the congregation.

Despite the fact that thousands of folks have received wise and loving counsel from SGM pastors, these same men are labled catagorically as spiritually abusive.

Their biblical interpretation is amazingly correct, every single time, while us 7000 have it all wrong.

We are all out of step, except those on the refuge blog.

I will continue to pray for these brothers and sisters.

  3. Oh it's so true. People on those sites really get worked up if you try their logic back on them. I've stopped going to read their sites because it's just tabloid garbage. Who cares if they gain popularity, Tabloids are popular even if they are filled with crap.

  4. Re: survivors and refuge

From "Kris" - let me tell you all about this here divorce. Don't worry, I have done all the research. I spoke to only one person involved.

Now, let's all assume, speculate, and cast judgement on this matter without ever hearing from all sides. "If" it is true, you say? of course it is true. It is on the internet, isn't it?

What fun we will have as we delve into all kinds of fanasy and made up theories and speculation. Oh, no, the other parties not heard from would not mind at all. Their children? Don't worry, they will be fine.

  5. Hi, I used to attend a SGM church.

But one Sunday, I went to the prophecy mike and was told I could not share.

No, I did not want to share that Word with others privately, I wanted to share it in front of the entire church. I was looking forward to the attention and admiration that would have followed.

You see, MY Word was really, really from God, unlike those other folks who spoke, and the others who were turned away.

So that is it. I quit.

  6. The "stories" on survivors and refuse are never fact checked, they are never verified, they are simply accepted as truth because it's what they want to hear.

  7. you lead a sad life, friend. my family happens to be the subject of one of the many "stories" on the blogs. that story is 100% true. you have made it abundantly clear that your allegiance is not to God, but to an organization. so go ahead, continue spitting on your brothers and sisters who have been hurt, refuse to believe that your leaders are human and capable of doing any wrong. must be nice living in complete ignorance. i'll try to pray for you, although it will honestly be hard. your satire is not funny. lives have been ruined, but you felt the need to make a "funny" blog. bravo.

  8. Well, posting this November 2011.

Ironic to see the comments before the whole shebang came to light (and it came to light thanks to the grace and love of God for all the people concerned...the people spiritually abused and the leaders and system that allowed it.)

I've never been a member of an SGM church. There are only 2 here in the UK, one in Wales, one in England. Even so, I personally know someone treated appallingly in the English one.

But, my wife and I have been heavy shepherded in a church we loved. It takes a lot time to get over, trust me. Please show grace to people working through these things.

    ATC, UK.

  9. Well, so much for "waiting to hear about how the corruption of SGM would come to fruition and we would crumble like a sand castle against the onslaught of the charges brought against us". Boom. 20+ churches have left SGM, scores of members are leaving, and there is a pending lawsuit that exposes the "alleged" cover ups.
